Today I played my first practice set with a 2.5 player. I rank myself as a 3.0 player. We played on Saratoga and Los Padres at this park with 4 courts. In the beginning I won my serve, and then I broke his serve for a 2-0 score. Then things turned sour, as when I served, I broke loosing my concentration and getting a score of 2-1. Then he played, and won his serves, due to my errors on long shots, and errors in lobbing. He also won quite a few of my lobs my smashing them onto the court. So now the score is 2-2. and then I lost my serve for a 2-3 score, then I broke his serve for a 3-3 game, Then I lost my serve for a 3-4, and when he served I lost again for a 3-5 point. When I served, I won it in a easy 40 love score to bring the point to 4-5. My mental thoughts were that I had nothing to lose, but I was under pressure to get it in. So I thought to myself that I should be agressive and play the net. Next after we switched sides, my opponent was able to get several good serves, and until finally I lost the set to 4-6.
THings I need to work on, our overhead smash, moving my backhand pushing forward, and agressively using my forehand to get the ball in the court and NOT in the net and go LONG. which I do quite a bit.
I need to practice more game play, as my level is 2.5 for matches, and 3.0 for rally points.
